About the German Country Women's Association:

All the recipes included in the cookery book have been submitted by women living in the north German countryside. They all are members of a Rural Women's Club. In Lower Saxony there are 482 such clubs with more than 92,000 members. They belong the German Association of Country Women, based in Bonn with about 550,000 members. The German Country Women's Movement celebrated it's 100th anniversary in 1998.

Its aims are strenthening the situation of women who live in the country, offering further education and assisting women in balance between family, housekeeping and career.
